Going Gaga for The Greek Islands
The Greek Islands are perhaps the most magical collection of islands anywhere in the world. Where else do you find such an irresistible combination of ancient history and sheer beauty? The landscape is a beguiling mix of sea and mountain. It is here that you’ll discover a balanced blend of ancient wonders, sun-soaked beaches, lively clubs, serene seaside tavernas, exceptional shops and delicious cuisine.
The azure Aegean waters have long been a playground for sailboats and motor yachts from around the world. Few travel experiences compare to a holiday in the Greek Islands. Join SEADREAM as we sail the islands May through October 2010.
We call on the “famous” Greek Islands such as Mykonos, with its unique white cube Cycladic architecture set around a picturesque fishing-village. It’s a labyrinth of narrow, stone streets lined with fabulous shops, delicious cafes, clubs and art galleries. Santorini is another well-known, must see. Sculpted by intense volcanic activity, the gleaming white villages of Oia and Fira crown the black rock crater like glistening jewels. As evening approaches, head to the beautiful town of Oia to watch one of the world’s most superb sunsets.
SEADREAM has discovered the charms of several islands that have kept tourism
to a more sedate scale. For example, easygoing Mytilini, Lesvos. The locals have
a love of food, drink and the arts on an island known for its poets and
painters, its olive oil and wine. Sifnos Island is another we like for its
lovely landscape of terraced olive groves, almond trees and aromatic
herbs
covering the hillsides. It’s a great walking island with plenty of old paths
linking villages together.
Naousa on the north coast of Paros island is a charming resort town with a colorful fishing harbor. Its waterside “scene” may one day rival that of Mykonos. We think you’ll enjoy it now, before it gets too developed.
SEADREAM has included Greek Islands in 21 of its 2010 itineraries. It may be hard to pick just one! For assistance contact your travel professional or SEADREAM YACHT CLUB at 800 707-4911 or http://www.seadream.com/
